What is Voice Dubbing? |
Voice DubbingVoice Dubbing is reproduction of voice by imitating of the manner of character speaking and reproduction of mannerisms, gestures, characteristics and idiosyncrasies of the concerned persons in the form of voice. Voice Dubbing is also done for non lip sync situations as background voice or narrations. When & Why does a voice dubbing is required ? Speaking in terms of live character
based dubbings, technically, no doubt a dubbed voice is more strong in terms
of voice quality, it also cuts out the ambience or original non-required
sounds, secondly through voice dubbing you have an option to improve the
strength of the character in a film/programme. Sometimes the diction/accent
of the original character does not sounds good, similarly inexperienced
performers or characters can be improved upon atleast in the audio Ever since the era of playback began,
Voice dubbing has been following it. To hear a crystal clear voices loaded
with natural effects the voice needs to be dubbed after the final editing.
The opening of new TV channels and tonnes of english programmes being dubbed
in hindi and various Indian Languages have opened up new avenues for voice
dubbing artists. The most important aspect of voice dubbing must be clear
voice, diction and pronunciation. The second most important aspect is
timing. Lipsync Dubbings needs to be performed with eyes & ears wide open,
keeping in view of the fact the expressions and lip movement of the source.
Cartoon dubbings needs lot of variation in voice and a single artist can
perform dubbing for many characters. Since we are used to hear cartoon
voices in broken, jarred voices so lot of modulation and stretch of voice is
required. In this Mimicry Artistes like me have an advantage who can
modulate, stretch, I feel Voice Dubbings and Mimicry needs more than 100% of talent, hard work and timing to perform. In the case of mimicry, your audience should know the subject you are performing upon and you have to be original with the source and sometimes new in content to provide wholesome entertainment. he most concerning matter is also, the mimicry artists like me have been pressing for recognition of their art as most have spent decades perfecting their skills in not just mimicking but also creating lines that have people in splits. Any Attempts by the State to remove human stress through this art are no doubt laudable but still more has to done in creating new talent and provide training by opening specialized Institutes and render special awards in the field of Dubbings and Mimicry.
