Designers

Job Description :
You will be involved in the design of Penguin titles, including liaising with freelance designers, illustrators, photographers, as well as our production and editorial departments. The ideal candidates should:
•Have an Art/Design degree from a recognized art institute.
•Have minimum 2-3 years' work experience in magazine/book design/advertising
•Be proficient with IT systems (familiar with Mac) and have knowledge of In Design, QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop, and other graphic design software
•Have the ability to translate cover briefs/design briefs into excellent and imaginative design
•Have strong organization and interpersonal skills, and ability to work on their own initiative.

Associate Copy Editor

Job Description :
You will be involved in the commissioning and editing of fiction and non-fiction books for children, including liaising with freelancers, authors, and typesetters as well as our production, design and marketing departments. The job also involves initial assessment of book proposals and the literary quality and readability of manuscripts. The ideal candidates should:
•Have a good academic record with a first class Bachelor's or Master's degree in any subject.
•Have 2-3 years' work experience, preferably in publishing
•Have an excellent grasp of written English, an eye for detail, should love reading, especially children's literature and have an awareness of current literary trends
•Have strong organization, word processing and interpersonal skills
•Be able to work on their own initiative, and have a rigorous, self-motivated approach to meeting tight schedules and deadlines without compromising quality/editorial standards.
