Costume Designer

Costume designers in the theatrical world need to do comprehensive research into the history of dress in order to ensure accuracy in the smallest detail in the costumes used on stage. Queen Elizabeth the 1st should not be portrayed wearing a miniskirt and clogs unless it is a modern version of the era. You would need to discover the exact clothing worn by people in that era and duplicate them for the stage or film production.
You would often be involved in the manufacture of these costumes and might have to approach textile designers to duplicate specific patterns used in the past and no longer available. Headdresses also have to be made in the style of the period and it would be your responsibility to procure the materials and make the hats.
