Ayesha Dharker (Actress)
Has made her mark in the international scene with City of Joy, Star Wars: Episode 2 and Bombay Dreams. Real recognition came with her role in The Terrorist. Schauna Chauhan Saluja (Businesswoman)
As director, Parle Agro, she has taken products like Frooti, Appy and N-Joi to the international market. Also the brain behind launching Frooti in Pet bottles, the first beverage to come out in this form. Mantra in life: "Achievement means satisfaction. Perseverance and loyalty to one's work always pay off."

Smitha Sarah Fenn (Jewellery designer)
Her design, The Great Journey, worth Rs 17 lakh, won an award at a competition organised last year by the Diamond Trading Company, a sales and marketing division of De Beers. Driving force: "A combination of luck, hard work and talent helped me win i the prestigious award."

Puja Nayyar(Fashion designer)
Created a buzz when her design was selected at the national level for the Air France Young Designer's contest in Paris. Later won recognition at the Mercedes Benz Asia Fashion Week 2003, and interacted with biggies like Gaultiei; La-croix and Azzedine Alaia. Has worked with Alexander McQueen. Success mantra: "I work hard, party harder. Balancing work and pleasure keeps me going."

Konkona Sensharma(Actress)
A National Award for Mr & Mrs lyer, and the success of Page 3 makes her the Next Big Thing in the Indian arthouse circuit. Konkona is practical: "There are great films that fail to make a mark and there are average ones that do well. Awards often are an outcome of smart lobbying — sometimes the best performances aren't even nominated. I guess I'm just lucky."

Sania Mirza (Tennis player)
Won the Junior Wimbledon Doubles title in 2003. Best moment so far as a pro: giving a scare to Serena Williams in the third round of this year's Australian Open. Became the first Indian woman to win a WTA singles title at the Hyderabad Open in 2005. Next objective: "Breaking into the top 25 in two years."

Ekta Kapoor (Television and film producer)
Has turned predictable saas-bahu sagas into TRP-toppers. Success mantra: "I work from 12 noon to about midnight, know what's happening on each show. 1 am focussed about what I want and don't take success for granted."

Ujjwala Raut (Model)
Face of YSL, the former Miss India has walked the ramp for Dolce & Gabbana, YSL, Roberta Cavalli, Estee Lauder, Hugo Boss and Victoria's Secret. Has made it to the covers of Vanity Fair, Vogue and Harper's. Success mantra: Great looks and hard work.

Anoushka Shankar (Sitarist)
Pt. Ravi Shankar's daughter had a Grammy nomination for her CD, Live At Carnegie Hall. In '98, British Parliament honoured her with a House of Commons Shield. "I've done well in situations due to many factors. Luck counts, as does hard work."

Shreya Ghosal (Playback singer)
At 14, she had already won the talent hunt show, Sa Re Ga Ma. Bigger fame was in store, by way of her songs in Devdas. Post Devdas, there's been no looking back. Her playback career took off, with hit numbers in Jism and Hum Tumn. What keeps her going? "Hard work and God's grace."
