Ditch your inbox for a toolboxBy Suzy Austin, Metro Millions of fed-up office workers yearn to swap their computer inbox for a toolbox. They are fed up with the routine grind of sterile offices and want to 'get their hands dirty' learning a practical trade. Up to a third of employees want to change careers with almost a fifth dreaming of mastering manual skills, a survey showed. Freelancing is becoming a more common thing in India. People want to try offbeat careers. A proportion of architects hanker to pick up a brush and become an artist or cartoonist. A sixth of career-swappers said their main motivation for change was to become their own boss. Workers in the media, engineers and pharmacists were most likely to be self-starters. Nearly a fifth of more than 1,000 office workers polled said they were tired of dealing with paperwork. Reaching key age milestones was another trigger for change with up to a third of workers reconsidered their careers when they hit 30, 40 or 50. Courtesy: Google News
