Vaastu is an ancient Indian science of architecture and buildings which helps in making a congenial setting for a place to live in and work in a most scientific way, taking advantage of the benefits bestowed by Nature, its elements and energy for enhanced wealth, health, prosperity and happiness. Vaastu Shastra is a science which teaches us to be compatible and create a perfect harmony between the five essential elements of nature; Sky, Earth, Water, Fire, and Air with Earth's magnetic field.

It is imperative to harness the amazing power of nature and live in tune with it since we ourselves are evolved by nature, we live in nature and would perish and return back to nature. Records and scriptures are full of testimonials from kings, commoners, artists, saints and traders on how Vaastu helped them reap great benefits.

Be it a home or office, factory or a commercial block, Vaastu has been known to reward the follower with benefits and protection from ill effects of life and unpredictable effects of nature. We live in, and are surrounded by, various types of energy fields, which operate freely in open space. When we place a structure in our establishment, the equilibrium is affected. The Vaastu Shastra considers the astrological placement of the Sun, Earth, and other planets during the actual construction. It also considers where the building site is located, the site’s shape, the proposed building’s shape, the direction the building will face, the location of gates, entry doors, room doors, windows, and the building’s general design. North and east are considered important directions. East is important because it is the direction from which the sun rises.

Some suggestions with certain basic Vaastu guidelines as below will enhance the quality of your life.
1. Orient your furniture to the cardinal directions such that you face East or North.
2. Keep the Northeast of all your rooms dirt-free.
3. Pedestal fans can be in Southeast sectors so that they blow towards Northwest.
4. Trash, litter and garbage can find their places in the Northwest of the site, building or rooms.
5. Avoid placing your desks facing a doorway. Avoid also sitting with your backs directed to a door opening.
6. Place your mirrors on East or North walls.
7. Your aquariums, water fountains and drinking water containers can be placed in the Northeast areas of your site, building or rooms.
8. Elders can sleep with their heads to the South and young students can sleep with their heads to the East.
9. Light indoor plants are ideal in the North, East and Northeast. Heavy plants in the West, South and Southwest are excellent. Rose, cactus and thorny plants find a compatible place in the Southeast.
10. Electrical and electronic gadgets will find their placement in the Southeast of the rooms in order.
11. Never ever sleep or sit under beams. If necessary, conceal the beams with artificial ceilings.
