Making Your Home a Harmonious Place to Live- A Vastu Shastra Review

Many a times a man purchases a place (plot) or house because it is cheap. He does not pay attention to the usefulness of the same as well as he is also ignorant about the vastu principles. Vastu Shastra is construction of house according to five basic elements of nature i.e Earth, Water, Fire, Space and Wind. Sometimes by making our home with all modern amenities and facilities we are not achieving mental peace and prosperity, it may be due to Vastu defects in that particular house. It is not necessary that the evil effect of any aspect against Vastu in the construction will be seen immediately. It may show the effect slowly and gradually, or it may appear one day all of a sudden. It is therefore quite necessary to identify the defects and dements in the land and construction as soon as possible and then get them rectified as far as possible| Faults | Rectification |
| Faults related to basement/Foundation | Change old soil with new one, white soil is best suited so one should prefer that |
| Irregular shaped plot | Give it rectangular or square shape and using the extended part for some other purpose (for rent or for growing plants). |
| Small entrance of house | Paints some beautiful flowers with leaves around it to make it looks higher and wider. |
| South side entrance | Construct another gate towards North, East and try to use it maximum. |
| Construct floor of compound wall higher then main plot floor. | |
| Construction of outlets of water from all sources in North and East side of house. | |
| Construct roof of South-West side rooms little higher then North side rooms | |
| In no case boring should be towards front side | |
| South-East side entrance | Paint the door with dark red colour |
| Dark red colour curtains is beneficial | |
| A rising sun picture on outside of doors also beneficial to lower down the effect | |
| Construct the overhead water tank in South-West side only | |
| Boring in South-West | Immediately fill the pit as soon as possible |
| Another well, bore well or underground water tank deeper then that on the wrong side is also beneficial. | |

| A copper pot filled with water should be placed there and its water should be changed daily. | |
| Beam above the bed position | Cover beam with false ceilings or tiles |
| Provide bamboo poles (bansuree) of equal length on both sides of beams. | |
| Mirrors in South wall or West walls | Try to change it and put in North and East, If not possible try to cover it all the time specially in night. |
| Don’t place mirror opposite to each other. | |

| Picture of waterfalls, rising sun and fishes are auspicious. Don’t drive nails and pegs in North-East corner, use adhesives. |
