Being
unhappily employed is probably just a shade better than being
unemployed!
A number of
factors can contribute towards your unhappiness in your present job.
Some common reasons are -
-
Your inability to be compatible with your present boss.
- Your
job content does not match with your skills and interests.
- You
feel stagnated and unable to grow with the job. You feel that you have
reached a dead end?
- You
want an advancement in your career which is not happening in the
present job.
Many people
stick to their present employment though unsatisfied, only due to the
fixed salary they they have been receiving. However, if dissatisfaction
sets in, it may become difficult to ignore it after a point of time.
- If you
are not entirely happy, start by identifying WHY. Try to solve the
problem by talking to your boss but if that doesn't help and you feel
you cannot continue - start looking for alternatives. Don't resign as
yet!
- Go
through vacancies advertised by other companies in Newspapers, Job
Websites etc.
- Let
your friends known that you are open to a job change so that they can
identify possible positions for you in their own Company.
-
Research and find out more about other suitable Companies that may
require your expertise.
- Invest
enough time in your job search. It is not a good idea to jump into a
new job in a hurry. Weigh your options sensibly and take up a new job
only after you have satisfied yourself with regards to the job
content, opportunities for growth and your role etc.
