It's very rightly said by Leo Burnett that it is far easier to write a speech about good advertising than it is to write a good ad.
However even to be good at writing about advertising you need to be good at everything- means just everything under the sun.
Advertising as a career is a roller coaster, it gives you the high and can give u the lowest low at the least expected
time. Many brands have been made by the right kind of advertising but its impossible to pen down what goes in making
that 20 sec ad or the 60cc print ad in the newspaper - its all about knowing the brand as well as
you
know yourself.
The first and the foremost rule to be in advertising is working with an open mind- a mind open to new ideas a mind which each time needs to think
something new.
One needs to constantly keep his/her eyes and ears open to all information happening in the industry
after all one has to keep up with the brains of IIM's at the other end!!
Careers in advertising vary according to the department in an agency such as
servicing, planning ,creative but the stress level is the same in each department.
The process of developing an ad is like a growing fetus in a mothers womb.
Many a people make a firing start in advertising but it takes a real winner to stick to it.
Perseverance,
hardwork, stress, meeting impossible deadlines and lots of interaction is what it takes to be in this exhilarating
field.
CAUTION - Works best for people with strong hearts and a quick brain!!!
