Kinetic Engineering awarded the NCPEDP-Shell Helen Keller Award 2004

Leading two wheeler manufacturer Kinetic Engineering Ltd has been awarded
The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP)
-Shell Helen Keller Award 2004. The Award consisting of a trophy and a
citation was handed over to Mr. Arun Firodia, Chairman, Kinetic
Engineering Limited by the Hon’ble Union Finance Minister Mr. P.
Chidambaram on 2nd December 2004 on the eve of the World Disability Day.
The Shell Helen Keller Awards 2004 is an award that recognises
organizations & institutions that share the vision and belief in equal
rights and gainful employment for people with disabilities, through their
policies and practices
Kinetic Engineering Ltd was awarded the NCPEDP-Shell Helen Kellar Award
2004 for undertaking various social initiatives that benefitted the common
man. A series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs has been
sustained by Kinetic Engineering Ltd over decades.
One of the most notable CSR program is a project called "Swapnabhoomi" in
Parbhani District of Maharashtra, where Kinetic Engineering Ltd has
adopted a cluster of 20 villages. These villages have been provided
facilities for sanitation, literacy, vocational guidance, water
conservation, irrigation, women's upliftment, village industries etc.
Kinetic Engineering Ltd has made an effort to transform these villages as
an ‘ideal ' villages.
In addition, Kinetic runs a ‘Special program for rehabilitation of
leprosy-afflicted persons. This is done by way of curing, caring, training
and providing gainful rehabilitation. The program has been sustained for
over a period of 15 years. Kinetic Engineering Ltd has alsobeen recently
awarded the “FICCI award for empowerment of physically challenged” by
Hon’ble President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
The third initiative that Kinetic has recently started is a special
alliance with Mission: Vijay II, a foundation that assists our country’s
war heroes in rehabilitation. The alliance covers all ex-servicemen and
war-wounded soldiers or their widows or families, and offers them an
opportunity for earning livelihood after they are no longer able to serve
in the army or have lost their family members.
Pune based Kinetic group was responsible for pioneering the concept of
personalized transportation in India with the launch of its moped Luna in
1974. It also revolutionized the Indian scooter market by being the first
to introduce modern scooters with electric start and variomatic gearless
transmission. Today, the group manufactures and sells an entire range of
two wheelers from motorcycles, scooters to mopeds.
The company has three state of the art manufacturing plants, a full scale
research and design center and a nationwide distribution network
comprising 450 dealers and over 1000 service centers across India. It
holds a technical collaborations with Hyosung Motorcycles of Korea for
motorcycles. The group is a leading exporter of vehicles across the globe
including the USA, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Australia. It
has won 14 exports excellence awards.
