Three months from now, Ravi Singhvi will fly to London. This
26-year old from Jodhpur, who did his schooling and college
in Delhi, has just landed a job with HSBC Investment
Banking, London, with a record pay package of $152,000 at
Day Zero of the summer placements of Indian Institute of
Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
“This is what I wanted to do, and I am obviously very happy.
However, I am not so sure whether my mother wants me to go
to London,” said Ravi Singhvi.
Singhvi was laterally inducted by HSBC Investment Banking,
London, and a formal offer was made at Day Zero of IIM-A’s
summer placements.
Equally happy and delighted are Yugandhar Karna from
Hyderabad and Gourav Varma from Dhanbad. While Karna has got
a job as analyst in the fixed income division at Goldman
Sachs in London, Varma will join Lehman Brothers at New York
to be placed as a senior analyst.
“Three students of IIM-A went to HSBC last year and it has
happened this year too. Everybody in my family are really
happy and delighted with the offer,” said Singhvi, who will
join HSBC’s Investment Banking division in June.
Hailing from Jodhpur, Ravi Singhvi spent his schooling and
college days at Blue Bells School and Shri Ram College of
Commerce (SRCC) at New Delhi. He is also a qualified
chartered accountant. He had worked with Arthur Anderson and
Citibank.
Ravi had completed his summer project with Goldman Sachs at
New York. “It is indeed a great year for graduating. The
south Asian economies are growing fast and IIM-A now
attracts the best recruiters in the world,” he said.
Yugandhar Karna from Hyderabad is a computer science
graduate from IIT Guwahati. “I got the Goldman Sachs offer
through the summers. It has been a fairytale for me, but
yes, I have put in a lot of effort,” said Karna. The highest
entry level salary abroad is $1.10 lakh.
Gourav Varma finished schooling from Dhanbad, and did his
engineering from IIT-Kanpur before working for a year at
eValue Serve at Gurgaon.
“I did my summers with Citibank and that proved to be great
experience,” said Varma, who has landed a job at Lehman
Brothers and will be based at New York. |
