Mallika Srinivasan Director, TAFE
THE WORD tractor, triggers images of rustic men with large moustaches.
It's a tag unusual then, for an heiress married to a business tycoon, to
steer a tractor manufacturing company. But then, Srinivasan is no ordinary
woman. A Wharton graduate, she was born into a southern business family —
the Amalgamations Group — and married into another, the TVS group. But she
chose to walk her own path when she joined TAFE as a general manager in
1986. While hubby Venu Srinivasan's fortunes ride on mobikes, Mallika is
the one driving into the big league with her tractors, having taken TAFE'S
turnover from Rs 85 crore to Rs 700 crore.
