Aromatherapy is the scientific use of essential pure plant extracts known as essential oils. In the course, students will learn the popular English form of aromatherapy, which uses low dosages primarily for stress release, combined with massage. Students will also learn clinical aromatherapy, which uses larger dosages to treat specific physical conditions through an understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and diagnosis for therapeutic prescription. Graduates will be trained in the use of various applications of essential oils, including aromatherapy massage to promote good health and balance. Graduates will typically be self employed or work in the spa industry, aged care industry or alongside midwives during pregnancy and newly born children.
