MERCHANT NAVY

Tamil Nadu Maritime Academy (Thoothukkudi-628001) is an autonomous body under the Govt. of Tamil Nadu and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, GOI. It offers these pre-sea training courses:
(a) Seaman Rating (Deck) and (b) Engine Room Rating (Engine)
Duration: 4 months residential
Eligibility: Passed Xth standard, or equivalent with at least 60% marks
Age: between 18-22 years.
Physically fit for Sea service as per merchant Shipping Act (Medical Examination for Seafarers) Rules, 1986. Wearing of glasses, or contact lenses,or not having normal vision in both eyes, eye defect, or  colour blindness will be rejected.
Course fee: Rs. 35,000/- payable in one instalment.
Selection: academic merit and screening test/interview.

Tolani Maritime Institute (established by the Tolani Education Foundation with the approval of the Directorate General of Shipping to train Engineering Officers), Sharada Centre, 11/l, off Karve Road, Erandwane, Pune-411004 has announced the commencement of their 4-year Marine Engineering programme (graduates will become associates of the Institution of Engineers on successful completion of the course).
Selection for admission to be based on academic performance and an interview and/or group discussion. Fees per semester to be Rs. 50,000/- inclusive of hostel fees.
